Music Library Service Company is a wholesale provider of recorded music and videos exclusively to academic and public libraries for eighteen years. MLSC supplies any CD/DVD in print and manage a database of over 700,000 active titles. Their main goal was to provide a rich user experience via web application to minimize phone based orders.
 

The Solution

GGK built an easy-to-use B2B E-commerce ASP. NET site without credit card processing that has all the existing functionality and many new features that make the site more usable and provide more value to MLSC customers. Various functionality that the MLSC team had to do manually was made easy so that the web site users can create their own orders easily.

The various parts of this solution are

  • Advanced Search Capability: In Classical area the user can search based on composer, conductor, performer, work title etc
  • Saved searches Feature: Allows user to save their search criteria so as to retrieve albums they would be interested easily
  • Admin searches : where MLSC admins create the common searches that many users would be interested in, so that they are available out of the box to website users
  • Rich and personal experience: use the AMG data to provide detail on the Pop/Classical/Video product details data
  • Site administration made easy: allowing admins to be able to access/edit customer, order, sales report information

  • Website portal: for online shopping as well as site administration
  • Multiple large and complex databases: where all the data about the music and videos is stored
  • Access Database: which resides on the customer machine so that they can set the prices and some other information as per their needs
  • Automated tool: that picks up music/video data updates from the ftp site and makes appropriate changes to the database data
