The Business Challenge
K&L Wine Merchants needed Shopping cart web application where varieties of wines
are sold. And the Content Management Tool (CMT) for writing reviews for products,
setting the email alerts.
K&L Wine Merchants Services
K&L wines offer world's finest wines with competitive prices. They offer thousands
of wines through online with inventory updates happening in real time. K&L is a
member of The Specialty Wine Retailers Association (SWRA), an organization that
exists to create a national marketplace for direct-to-consumer wine sales.
Accurate, Actionable and Accessible profit information is a key component of any
Executive Dashboard. Acorn Systems wanted to help companies to identify and address
areas of business that are performing well and those that are not.
The Solution
- Website: for online shopping
- KLMaint: This is used by staff for managing the orders for online shopping, reports,
adding new products, new wine clubs, creating orders for wine clubs
- Sql Database: which resides on customer machine which is used to save the Products
information, Registration information, Subscription information
- Endeca: Tool which updates the Product information every 15 mins
The Results
- Content Management Tool: The staff of K&L use this for writing reviews for products,
setting the email alerts, setting the events.
- K&L Wine Merchants (K&L) has four wine clubs that deliver two bottles of wine or
champagne every month or every other month. The existing wine clubs cannot be personalized.
Personal Sommelier is a new wine club where the customer can select customized parameters
such as the product type, product group, region, and number of bottles.
- Reports: Converted crystal reports to SSRS report. Reviewed the existing code to
determine vulnerabilities in the site.
- Advanced Search: Provided more search parameters selecting which
- Special order and Pre-arrival: Special order wines are the wines that K&L provides
even if they are out of stock, separate order was generated for such wines. Pre-arrival
are the wines that K&L provided at a certain price before they come into stock,
separate order was generate for such wines.
- Security: Terrace performed the audit from an application perspective and used the
following approach for the security audit.
- Audited the web application installation and determined whether the application
was installed using security-oriented best practices.
- Google Analytics: Visits, Orders, Revenue, registrations were tracked using Google
Analytics.
- Unauthenticated Buy path: Customer's of K&L should be registered in order to order
the wines. Unauthenticated buy path was a to buy the product without registering
to the site that was provided to the customer.
